A pilot with 37 years’ experience, Chief Flight Instructor John Eller has over 7500 hours Total Time in flight.

John is a native of Winston-Salem. He met his wife Andrea while working as a ski instructor and working toward his private pilot’s license which he obtained on July 1, 1988. John has flown into and out of nearly every airport in North Carolina hundreds of times, not to mention most every airport in the Southeast. 

When John decided to pursue Aviation as a career, within seven months he completed all his ratings including CFI. Two years later, he was hired by a regional airline and within three years thereafter John was flying a Boeing 727. Years later, John left the airline industry, but stayed involved in aviation through the Civil Air Patrol. At various times throughout his career, John has been a Mission Pilot, Check Pilot, and Mission Check Pilot.

Most recently, John has worked as a Chief Flight Instructor for a Part 141 school in the Triad. This experience, coupled with his 7500 hours Total Time and 3300 hours of Dual Instruction provided, allows him to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to Twin City Aviation.

John’s advice to students is simple – study hard. During his own training, John passed all the written tests and check rides for Instrument, Commercial, CFI, and Multi-Engine Commercial in only seven months. He credits his quick success to hard work and willingness to hit the books when he was not flying.
